Welcome to Issue II of The Patient Safety Newsletter.
A lot has happened since our inaugural issue last month. More hospitals made commitments to implement processes to eliminate preventable deaths. More medical technology companies signed our Open Data Pledge, and more organizations signed ourCommitment to Action letter. If you have not made a commitment already, I urge you to do so today.
If you have made a commitment, make sure you make a commitment to each one of our patient safety challenges. We have 13 patient safety challenges with Actionable Patient Safety Solutions (APSS) that are available for download and you can implement today. We believe that by making a commitment to each of our challenges you will not only reach zero preventable deaths at your hospital, but you will help us reach our mission of ZERO preventable deaths by 2020. By implementing processes, you won’t just be hoping for zero, you will be planning for zero!
This month we are excited to announce the beginning of our quarterly webinar series. Each webinar will focus on one of our 13 Actionable Patient Safety Solutions (APSS) and will feature leading experts in order to educate, encourage engagement, and identify priorities and practical approaches to eliminate patient safety failures. Our first webinar will be on Pediatric Adverse Drug Events– please, do not miss this opportunity!
We only have 3 years left to reach our goal of zero preventable deaths. We need all hands on deck. Let’s not waste another day hoping for zero, let’s put plans in place and implement processes that we know work and eliminate preventable deaths today. Whether you’re a hospital administrator, clinician, nurse, engineer, technologist, advocate, or policymaker, you can do this.
Please read our April issue below. We want to ensure we cover topics you believe are pertinent. Please email your ideas and comments to [email protected]
We look forward to zero!
