Margrit Shoemaker, MD, FACP, is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism there. She is Board Certified in both. In addition to maintaining a clinical Endocrinology practice in Williamsport, she has been instrumental in the clinical education of physician assistant students, medical students and Family Medicine residents. Dr Shoemaker joined clinical faculty of The Commonwealth Medical College (currently Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine or GCSOM) as a regional Assistant Dean in 2010 and has served as Assistant Chair for Internal Medicine since 2012. Special interest in Quality and Safety (Q&S) led her to oversee development and implementation of a Q&S curriculum for medical students at GCSOM since 2016. She joined the Patient Safety Movement Foundation Curriculum group in 2017 and heads the Patient Safety Curriculum Development project.
