Omar Ishrak is on the Governance Board of the Patient Safety Movement Foundation. A global thought leader in healthcare and technology, Ishrak was CEO of Medtronic for nearly nine years. During this time, he helped engineer Medtronic’s record-breaking acquisition of surgical product supplier Covidien as well as bring novel innovations to market for a range of medical conditions.

Ishrak has also been President and CEO of GE HealthCare Systems, and since January 2020 he has been independent Chairman of the Board of Directors of Intel, a global technology company with tens of billions of dollars in annual revenue. He still serves as Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Medtronic, and he is on the Board of Directors of the Cleveland Clinic.

Having grown up in Bangladesh before completing a Bachelor of Science degree and PhD in Electrical Engineering at King’s College London, Ishrak is passionate about promoting inclusion and diversity in the technology sector. He established Medtronic’s Diversity Networks, and in 2020, the company was awarded the prestigious Catalyst Award for global corporations that build workplaces that work for women.
