Ambassadors

About the Ambassador Program

In 2016, the Patient Safety Movement Foundation announced the emergence of regional networks across the country and the world. This initial group of localized network leaders, called Regional Network Chairs, aided the Patient Safety Movement Foundation’s outreach efforts by facilitating connections to more hospitals, healthcare technology companies, partners, and patient advocates than ever before!

In 2020, the Patient Safety Movement Foundation is working to expand its current group of volunteers through the emergence of Patient Safety Movement Ambassadors, both geographically and on a more local level.

What is an Ambassador?

An ambassador is a Patient Safety Movement Foundation volunteer appointed for a special assignment: bringing together key stakeholders in healthcare to help us achieve ZERO preventable patient deaths. Ambassadors are connectors, facilitators, and key champions around a specific patient safety challenge.

We need all types of people across the world to become Ambassadors to bring other people and organizations into the fold, connecting the dots.

Resources for Success

Ambassadors gain access to a comprehensive digital toolkit that includes presentation templates, training videos, marketing tools and other important information that will help them be successful. They are encouraged to reach out to each other for peer support.

Time Commitment

Ambassadors are expected to spend a minimum of 10-15 hours per month on Patient Safety Movement-related outreach efforts to maintain a volunteer Ambassador.

Perks of Becoming an Ambassador

Ambassadors receive a discounted registration to the annual World Patient Safety, Science & Technology Summit during tenure as an Ambassador based on their performance.

Testimonials

“Thanks to Joe, I aspired to do something similar in Taiwan. I wrote to ask if I can be a Regional Network Chair for Taiwan…… with the toolkit provided by the Foundation, I introduced the mission to get to zero preventable deaths by 2030. This is a great example of unifying the healthcare ecosystem which reflects the mission proposed by the Patient Safety Movement Foundation.” -Dr. Mingi Chan Liao, Founder & President, Taiwan Patient Safety Culture Club; Ambassador, Taiwan

I’m grateful to be able to spread the aspects of patient safety with other hospitals in Mexico. Likewise, being able to participate as an Ambassador has allowed me to work as a team and exchange ideas with leaders and health representatives from all over the world, understanding the different contexts and developing strategies with a common goal: zero preventable deaths.” -Luis Ramón Torres Torija Arguelles, MD, Quality and Patient Safety Coordinator Hospital Español; Ambassador, Mexico

“As an Ambassador of the Patient Safety Movement Foundation, I have expanded my network with access to resources and support towards raising awareness on the importance of patient safety. After attending the 2017 Patient Safety Summit, I returned to Lagos, Nigeria with a better understanding of the urgent need to take action in preventing medical errors and have encouraged local hospitals to implement the APSS Blueprints as evidence-based guidelines for safer care. The PSMF has also allowed me to connect with ambassadors in other countries and has been an extremely rewarding experience to advocate for patient safety around the globe.” -Ehi Iden, President, OSHAfrica; Ambassador, Nigeria

Ambassadors can help spread the world about the vision and mission of the PSMF in many ways.
