Merope Mills is a writer and senior editor at The Guardian. In 2019, her daughter Martha died, aged 13, after a catalogue of mistakes at King’s College Hospital, London. Her Guardian article about what happened had a huge impact across the NHS and the UK and was shared widely throughout the world. She has begun a campaign for Martha’s Rule (based on the Ryan’s Rule in Queensland, Australia) encouraging more family and patient involvement in hospital care.
