Deena Shim McRae, MD

Dr. Deena McRae is faculty at the UC Irvine School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania and her medical degree at UC Irvine School of Medicine. Continuing at UC Irvine, she graduated from the psychiatry residency program and was chief resident during the last year.
For the last five years, Dr. McRae has held the roles of Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education and Designated Institutional Official at the UC Irvine School of Medicine. In addition, she has been the Chair of the UC Irvine School of Medicine M-POWER wellness and professionalism committee, as well as its interdisciplinary quality and safety committee for house staff. In these leadership roles, she works very closely with hospital and school leadership, as well as medical students, housestaff, and faculty.
Previous roles have included Psychiatry Residency Program Director at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, Clinical Foundations medical student course director at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, and the Associate Chief of Staff for Education at the Tibor Rubin Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
