Angeli Porto is an obstetrician and gynecologist at Region II Trauma and Medical Center, a government hospital in the Philippines. Driven by their institution’s vision and mission, to provide quality and safe healthcare for patients, she has been appointed as the Chair of the Patient Safety Committee.
Dr. Porto finds challenge in shifting towards a culture of patient safety without disregarding accountability. She aims to work on strategies to address the underreported medication errors, treatment and surgical delays, referral, and communication system failures. Particularly, she hopes to propose innovative strategies for safer care in low-resource and low nurse-to-patient ratio settings.
