David Stockwell, MD

Dr. Stockwell is a pediatric ICU physician in Baltimore, MD, at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. In addition to his clinical work, his career has focused on patient safety, quality improvement, and physician administration. He has served as the CMO of the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center since 2021 and is only the second CMO for the Children’s Center. Dr. Stockwell is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. His academic work has primarily focused on consistently identifying safety events via a standardized surveillance approach that utilizes the electronic health record. Additionally, this research work has benefited the hospitals where he has worked, as the consistent identification of safety events allows for better and more consistent improvements. Dr. Stockwell also serves as the Chief Clinical Officer of Pascal Metrics, a Patient Safety Organization.
