Frank Gitonga is an anesthesiologist at the Isiolo Regional Military Hospital in Kenya and one of the Patient Safety Movement Foundation’s 2023 Fellows. With a passion for providing quality care to all patients, Gitonga is particularly interested in enhancing the safety of perioperative patients and those in intensive care units.
In addition to being a qualified anesthesiologist, he has completed a European Society of Intensive Care Medicine fellowship in acute kidney injury and has trained in echocardiography and hemodynamic monitoring. Having experienced working with underserved communities through volunteering on surgical missions and witnessing resource-constrained health facilities, he hopes to work to improve healthcare systems to make medical practices as safe as possible.
