Dr Baker is a board-certified and fellowship-trained breast surgical oncologist and Assistant Professor of surgery at University of California Los Angeles. Her clinical interests include oncoplastic breast surgery including aesthetic flat closures; skin and nipple sparing mastectomy; targeted axillary surgery; inflammatory breast cancer; high risk patients; BRCA mutation carriers; and breast cancer in young women.
Dr Baker’s research focuses on new surgical approaches to treating breast cancer and epigenetic markers to predict outcomes and alter treatment recommendations. She is an invited lecturer to national and international meetings and her research is regularly published in high impact journals.
She also serves as the UCLA cancer liaison physician for the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and is a member of the UCLA Cancer Services Committee. She is the director of UCLA’s Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO)-accredited breast surgery fellowship. She also serves on national committees for the SSO, American Society of Breast Surgeons, and is on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) breast cancer screening and diagnosis guidelines panel.
Dr Baker completed her general surgery training at University of California, San Diego and her fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. She is board-certified in general surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
