Founding President of the Global Sepsis Alliance and Chair Sepsis Foundation
Professor Reinhart is the Founding President of the Global Sepsis Alliance and the German Sepsis Society. He was one of the key initiators of the World Sepsis Day movement in 2012. He is a member of the German National Academy of Science Leopoldina and Chair of the Sepsis Foundation. As speaker of the nationwide German research network SepNet, he initiated landmark studies on the efficacy and safety of therapeutic approaches in sepsis as well as on the epidemiology of sepsis. His research activities in the field of sepsis and intensive care medicine led to more than 900 peer-reviewed publications and the Research Award of the Federal State of Thuringia/Germany. Since 2019 he is Senior Professor for Sepsis Awareness at Charité and BIH Visiting Professor in Berlin. In 2022 he was granted the Global Sepsis Award for his contributions to sepsis research and sepsis advocacy.
