Rachael Raynes is the Secretary of the Governing Board for the Patient Safety Movement Foundation. With more than two decades of legal expertise, mostly in the healthcare sector, she has been volunteering for the Foundation in various capacities since 2014.
After studying at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications, Raynes initially pursued a legal career, graduating from California Western School of Law in 2002 and working as an associate attorney at a law firm in San Diego, led by a board member of a local hospital. This inspired her to use her skills for the benefit of patients, and she made the decision to split her time between the firm and hospital.
Following an initial relocation to Burlington, Vermont, she was admitted to the Vermont Bar and began working for the Supply Chain Services Department of University of Vermont Medical Center, formerly known as Fletcher Allen Health Care. She has continued to serve Burlington and its surrounding communities in this capacity ever since, even after moving back to California in 2012.
