Manal Younus, PhD, is the founder and director of the Iraqi Pharmacovigilance Center and is one of the Patient Safety Movement Foundation’s 2023 Fellows.

With more than 20 years of experience in medicine regulation, pharmacovigilance, and clinical pharmacy, Younus has served on many regional and international committees and is a member of the Regional Board of the IAPH Antimicrobial Resistance Specialty Committee.

Having worked in the Iraqi Ministry of Health for over a decade, working to build an effective pharmacovigilance database that could help understand and prevent adverse effects from medicines and vaccines, she is a member of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance Advisory Board and is Vice President of the Society’s Middle East chapter.

Younus is also a member of the Executive Committee for the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences and acts as a benchmarking assessor of regulatory systems for medical products for the World Health Organization.
