Dr. Fogarty Mack is Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology and the Vice Chair for Patient Safety and Quality Improvement in the Department of Anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medicine /NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She serves as the Chair of the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists Committee on Patient Safety and Quality Improvement. At Weill Cornell she previously served as the Director of Non-operating Room Anesthesiology (NORA) and Neuroanesthesiology and Director of the NORA Society. She has focused attention on Patient Safety through her service on the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation’s (APSF) Patient Safety Priority Advisory Group for NORA and the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ (ASA) Committees for Patient Safety Education and Quality Management and Departmental Administration. She currently serves as Section Chair for Professional Standards of the ASA, which includes committees on safety, quality and ethics. As Vice Chair of Anesthesiology, she frequently counsels colleagues who have been involved in patient safety events and medical errors and supports programs to ensure Just Culture and Peer Support. She is an internationally recognized executive and lecturer on patient and clinician safety, as well as clinician wellness and resilience support.
